Alex + Cole
Alex and Jenny met during their college days in Duluth and Superior, while both worked at American Eagle. Jenny was an associate manager and broke the rules to be friends with Alex. [Wow, such rebels, but Alex is just that great! ] Years later, and they are both St. Paul kids.
Cole and Alex reached out with an odd request. They wanted a family session with their dogs, pretty normal, but they wanted the last 10 minutes to change into their family Halloween costumes. Done. Say less. We’re in.

Ellie Jo
Welcome Miss Ellie Jo to the Johnson Fam.
Back in 2020 we shot Amiee + Eric’s wedding. Two years later, we photographed the arrival of their first daughter, Emma. Now in 2024, we had the honor of photographing their second baby girl, Ellie.

Tessa + Eric
Tessa is one of four sisters. We’ve had the honor of capturing all four of their weddings. It means a lot to us when families come back and continue to request photo or video work. Not only do we get to capture someone’s love story, but we also get to stay connected and see how their lives have changed + grown.
This engagement had a lot of sentimentality going on because we shot this on Eric’s generational family farm.

The Johnsons
Welcoming Emma to the Johnson crew. Nearly not enough bed space with all the pups, but we managed, and Emma decided to steal the show anyway with her tiny clasped hands. [ insert heart eyes emoji here. ]

Sadie + Codey
No holding back for some true Minnesotans when it comes to engagement photos. These two sweethearts went all out for their engagement session in January during an extra cold snap. The real feel outside was -5 degrees, but mom didn’t raise not quitter, so we persevered. Sadie + Codey were real troopers, taking a few photos, hoping back into their pickup truck to warm up [ with a Busch beer or two of course…Cheers! ] and then jumped back out for a few more pics.
It was a beautiful Minnesota winter sunset where we got to capture these two running, laughing, and just enjoying being in love…and being cold. Yah for adventurous couples!

Elizabeth + Nathan
An evening of beautiful light, nature strolls hand in hand, and just some very relaxed photos to capture it all.
We are always looking for engagement photos that capture who you are as a couple and make it feel fun and comfortable. These two lovebirds picked a park, and we went for a walk during golden hour. We got to know each other during the engagement shoot and eased into the photos, making the evening enjoyable + picturesque!

Alexa + Dan + Solvi
Jenny and Alexa worked together a few years back and hit it off pretty much instantly. Maybe it was their commonality of being the tallest women in the room, or maybe their love for skipping work early to grab a margarita, who knows, but a friendship blossomed and it is beautiful.
Alexa and Dan asked us to take photos of their new (and stinkin’ adorable) family. To say the evening was anything but perfect would be a lie. It was casual and laid back, we shared a few beers in their home and little Solvi hammed it up for our cameras. It was simply wonderful.

Abby + Josh
We are happy to introduce you to our incredible friends, Josh, Abby, Lily, Cheeto, + Bird; the furriest family we know. Josh and Abby met with the help of pizza and Tinder at roughly the same time that we were having our first awkward dates. It was obvious that these two were a match from the start and since then, we have been able to spend countless nights ordering delivery, playing card games, and laughing our asses off.
For this engagement session, we wanted to keep it relaxed and close to home because we knew they were not super comfortable with the super posed or lovey dovey images. We also had to include the pets, so the backyard was a great spot to start. Lily stole the show as was expected, and Cheeto + Bird did great for about 5 minutes before we had to wrangle them back indoors. Josh + Abby did a great job of being their goofy normal selves and also allowing themselves to be vulnerable later in the session as we dragged them around the Lake of the Isles. The highlight for us was finding a really huge stump to put their love on display while the sky put on a beautiful show in the background.
We have seen these two fall in love, comfort each other in their pain + hardships, and plan and work to build their future together and we are so excited that we get to be there for everything that comes next. Cheers to filming you walk down the aisle this September!

Who doesn't love a good surprise?! Especially when it involves hiking around a frozen waterfall with your mate and deciding to spend the rest of your life with the one you love?!

Skyler, being the clever dude that he is, told Emily that I had just shot a wedding in Duluth and was able to drive up to Silver Bay to meet for a quick hike. I tried to hide my excitement by hiding behind my camera, taking pictures of the trees, the river, and our lead dog, Layla, as we marched towards Caribou Falls. After making it to the falls and taking our time to explore the area, I was anxious and ready for the proposal. I offered to take a formal picture as Emily + Skyler carefully made their way into position. From that point, the photos tell the story.
These two are an incredible pair, and it is awesome to see how much they love exploring + spending time with each other. We can't wait to celebrate with you both this Summer and witness the love!

Jen + Chad
We were so grateful that our long time friends, Chad + Jen, were willing to drive down to the cities during a hectic time right before our own wedding. These two birds are getting married in one of our favorite spots in the entire Midwest, the beautiful and scenic Duluth! For the engagement session, we wanted to use it as a chance to explore some spots in our backyard. The cities are so rich and full of interesting backdrops that we were able to shoot in 7 different locations in the span of less than two hours. We found a bit of nature, a few gritty alleys, an incredibly gorgeous and green vine wall, and some delicious beer to reward a hard day's work.
